INTIMATIONS OF THE THIRD BREATHING is a site-specific AR sound walk in public space around the KunstHausWien and the Donaukanal. The project draws attention to micro-processual intelligences within the urban fabric: moisture, moss, drainage, insect flight, light reflection. It brings into perception atmospheric agencies that typically operate beneath the threshold of notice.

The project takes up a sensibility already inscribed in the architecture of the KunstHausWien: a porous disposition toward the world, one that recognises nature as co-author of space, structure and meaning. Where built form once offered organic resistance, a digital-acoustic counter-practice now takes shape — subtle, latency-based, infiltrating the senses. Augmented reality functions here as sensory amplifier of a pre-existing, mostly unheard mesh.

Three space-time nodes structure a choreographed perceptual route:

P₁: Pore Cycle — architecture as breathing membrane. Moss contact, biofilm reaction, microtonal sedimentation. 
T₂: Time Flood — the Donaukanal as liquid time-architecture. Current tension, sediment vortices, drainage resonance. 
A₃: Chirr Intelligence — vegetative interstices as vibrating presence. Insect lines, spore activity, evaporation fields.

What unfolds here is electrochemical, oscillating, diffuse. Transformation is not staged but embedded: an attunement of perception, a quiet insistence that the world writes itself ceaselessly — in current, tension, evaporation.

The work constitutes the fourth edition of the AR gallery K1_ARt by the arts organisation Kultur1, launched in 2024 with Vdonaukanal on Vienna's Donaukanal, and is realised as part of Klima Biennale Wien 2026 in cooperation with KunstHausWien.
