Citizen Danube

The Danube has shaped Vienna since the city’s foundation. The river is far more than a backdrop, a transport artery or a local recreation area. It is an urban ecosystem that shapes its human and non-human inhabitants and is shaped by them. We recognize its value and its rights and call for it to be granted citizenship of this city.

We declare the Danube a Citizen of Vienna.
