In her artistic practice, Asta Lynge (b. 1988, Denmark; lives and works in Copenhagen) explores ideas of progress and technology, considering how objects carry systems of desire, value, and control. Through reworking familiar forms, her exhibitions expose hidden power structures and cultural narratives — and highlight how these are shaping contemporary life.

Her conceptual approach combines materials and subjects in an associative manner, opening up the potential of thinking these factors together and for understanding something new. The objects and motifs she chooses to work with are charged with meaning through modes of production, circulation, and historical context, allowing them to operate as immediate carriers of concepts and associations.

Asta Lynge works associatively across materials and processes. She is interested in the notion of progress and its inherent affiliation with technology.
She holds a BFA from Central Saints Martins (2012) and was part of the first iteration of the CSM Associate Studio Programme (2013-16).
Recent exhibitions include: Cherry Hill (Cologne), Overbeck-Gesellschaft (Lübeck), John Giorno Foundation (New York); Francis Irv (New York); Den Frie (Copenhagen), Kunsthal Charlottenborg (Copenhagen), Stockholm School of Economics in assoc. with Coyote (Stockholm), Le Bourgeois (London), Cittipunkt (Berlin), Lagune Ouest, (Copenhagen), Cucina (Copenhagen) and dépendance (Brussels).
Lynge is the recipient of Anne Marie Carl Nielsen’s talent prize and her work is held in public collections incl. Fulgsang Art Museum, New Carlsberg Foundation, The Danish Art Foundation, Musée D'Elysée and Copenhagen Municipality.
