Reclaiming the Streets
With the school programme Reclaiming the Streets, the Klima Biennale Wien wants to rethink public space together with Viennese schoolchildren and artists. In this project, it invites children and young people to actively shape their environment and make their ideas for a liveable, climate-friendly city visible. The projects show that aesthetic design, environmental and climate awareness, and collective action are inextricably linked; that the future is created through creative action and collaborative learning; and that urban space should be designed as a communal, sustainable living space.
Reclaiming the Streets | Module 1: Presentation of pavement art
Streets are more than just thoroughfares; they are places for meeting, learning and co-creation. As part of the Vienna Climate Biennale’s school programme ‘Reclaiming the Streets’, pupils present their collective pavement art in the street space in front of the school. Using paint, brushes and their own visions, they are rewriting the asphalt – a collaborative work created with the street art collective Calle Libre.
Part of a two-part block party. Followed by: Module 2 at 14:00 at the Camillo Sitte Bautechnikum (1030 Vienna).
In cooperation with Calle Libre, HOPE Raumlabor / TU Wien, with the kind support of Lokale Agenda 21 and the OeAD. Free admission.
