Workshop by Wien Museum
For thousands of years, people have been shaping the landscape to suit their own needs: rivers are straightened, green spaces are sealed over, and transport routes are built. This encroachment on nature is also clearly visible in Vienna. But how do we view these interventions today? And what might a sustainable city of the future look like?
In this workshop, we take a look back at the past and examine the causes of the problems for which we are now seeking solutions. We take a critical look at these developments and discuss not only interventions that harm the climate, but also historical figures and movements that have championed environmental and nature conservation. The pupils will develop possible solutions and devise their own visions for a liveable future for our city.
